maynardferguson.com

The official web site of Maynard Ferguson
This web site was launched in 1996 as a college project at the University of Northern Iowa by Maynard fan Matt Keller under the title "The Maynard Ferguson Tribute Page". Over the next few years, the site became well known to the Maynard Ferguson organization, and the site was eventually adopted as the official site for Maynard Ferguson. In 2006 the site moved to the maynardferguson.com domain and launched an online store. Check out the forum!

Link to a great story in the Downbeat Archives
"The following discussion took place on a Sunday afternoon in Count Basie's dressing room during the recent Jazz Supports the Symphony concert at Chicago's Civic Opera House. The conversation began while Basie and his band were on stage, and Jack Teagarden (who also was featured at the concert), Maynard Ferguson (whose band was playing in Chicago that night), and members of the Down Beat staff waited for the bandleader."

Washington Post Review and Comments
"Maynard Ferguson's Horn Screamed With Vulgar Passion"

a long scarf around his massive neck, screeching out a
tragic opera theme on a highly amplified trumpet?"

Send Your Story
Maynard's Daughter Wilder Still Collecting Stories
Back in December, Maynard's daughter Wilder asked fans to send her stories of how Maynard and his music touched their lives. She has received some wonderful stories and now wishes that she had asked for photos to go with them. If you already gave your story but could also provide a photo, get in touch with Wilder. If you haven't told your story, but have a good one (even if you don't have a photo), please do so.
